Meet my new friends!

DATE: Aug 3rd, 2010

Summer holiday has begun. This means no more Spanish classes, going to the gym and attending college in the evenings. I’ve done pretty much all of my work for JaME, no more twenty to-do emails waiting for me, so that results in me actually reading books and doing silly things with my time, as the above picture shows.

The milk carton is from Blur’s video of the song Coffee and TV,which always makes me very sad to watch it even though I know it’s just a milk carton with a face! You can find the print-out here. The Mario mushroom and Domo-kun are from Cubeecraft. They’re rather clumsy creations though, it was mostly to try out. They’re the easiest ones but they were quite a pain to create!

Baking Bread

DATE: Jul 17th, 2010

Recently I found a lifehack kitchen hack recipe for “one minute ciabatta bread“. It seemed really easy so I decided to try it. Here’s how it went:

I followed the recipe step-by-step and when I took it out of the oven it looked like yummy ciabatta bread. Well, the crust was indeed yummy I soon discovered, but the dough on the inside was still slightly wet, heavy and stick. I couldn’t really eat it because it would probably give me stomach aches and it didn’t taste very good anyway. I guess for next time, I’ll try a bit more yeast, leave it to wait the maximum time instead of the minimum, and then put it in the oven a while longer, hopefully that’ll work out better!

Tablecloths

DATE: Feb 22nd, 2010

I guess we’re a little old fashioned for using tablecloths for our kitchen table. Recently I made some new ones, I actually enjoy sewing once in a while as long as it’s not too complicated and the sewing machine is being nice to me. I still have to finish the red one, but I really like the way they turned out :)

November 10: Take a picture of something you have worked very hard on!

DATE: Nov 10th, 2009

Today I worked very hard on making this letter paper. I wasn’t able to find anything decent in the stores so I made it myself. Bad photograph though, in real it looks much better.

The second picture is of a box with letters and postcards that I keep in my closet. I love receiving mail, and I keep almost everything. There are various postcards from all over the world in it, lots of letters. I even have the letters in there that I sent to my penpal when I was about ten or so. I recently acquired a new pen-pal, but unfortunately I’m a really bad slacker and I still haven’t responded to her…

October 22: Take a picture of something you made yourself

A painting I made a few months ago. I went with my aunt and nine-year-old cousin to this ‘open air museum,’ which is basically a small town that represents the Netherlands 200 years ago. My cousin wasn’t too impressed, neither was I. At some point we ended up at a farm where you could make a painting, or paint a t-shirt. Because my cousin wanted to make a painting and I knew she’d take a long time to finish it, I started on this little fellow as well.

Frozen Smoothies

DATE: Aug 28th, 2009

We recently got a blender and came up with the idea to freeze smoothies. So, we simply added strawberries, pineapple, orange pulp, orange juice, yoghurt and put it in the blender. Then we poured the smoothie in an ice cube tray. After a few hours, they’re frozen enough to eat. My friend said “but it’s kind of annoying, holding an ice cube in your hand.” No silly, you put them in a bowl and take a spoon. They taste really good! Though surprisingly, when you add only strawberries or strawberries with mango, they mysteriously taste like banana…
